Treasury / Fundraising Report

·         Wreath-Making Fundraiser- $385 net.  Waiting for input from Jim before crediting Scout accounts.

·         Yard Sale-  Frank will make arrangements with church for date.  Preference is May 14/15, followed by May 21/22 then April 21/22.

·         Davis Trust- annual check for deposit.

Events / Activities

·         Boys and parents enjoyed wreath making and are willing to do it again next year.

·         Climbing wall was a success and a great back-up on a rainy day.

·         Frog won uniform contest!!  Coordinate pizza(?) with Mark.

Scout Website

·         Amy and Bill to update calendar and leader section.

·         Leader section to include name, position, and responsibility.  Mention background check for all leaders.  Email Skip for information.  Use alias email address for Skip.

·         Troop Historian/Photographer to distribute photos from National Whitewater center.

Adult Leader Training

·         Wilderness First-Aid Training

                                    Scheduled for January 29-30.  This training has a 3 yr. re-certification.  We will need at least one,             if not two, for Philmont.  Brent will send out information to adults interested in high adventure             trips.  Jan 29-30 is the Troop Cold-weather backpacking trip.  Those interested in the Wilderness             training will have to miss back-packing at the Pickett Farm.

·         Leader-Specific Training in February and University of Scouting March 6. Brent will send reminders.

·         Bridging is scheduled for March 15.  Brent will coordinate new parent/leader information session with Guy Arcuri before Webelos bridge to Scouts. 

Youth Leadership Training

·         Jan 9 - New PLC training this weekend:  Module 1, Goal Sheets, and Organization Chart.  Attending: SPLs (APLs only if SPL cannot), Scribe, Troop Guide.  Boys to decide future PLC dates.  Margaret bringing snacks.

·         Jan. 11 - No PLC Meeting

·         How do we help/encourage boys in accomplishing their leadership roles.  Set Expectations?  Report at PLC what they’ve worked on or done for the month? Continue discussion at Raven Knob Leadership Weekend.

·         Skip will email new leadership positions to everyone.  Historian/Reporter and bugler positions are vacant.

·         Leaders are noticing older Scouts stepping-up to help younger Scouts on Monday nights.

·         Use Junior Assistant Scoutmaster position to plan “teaching moments” before and during regular Monday meetings. 

·         Discuss more at PLC

Rank Advancement

·         Rocks and Chili Peppers in good shape.  All Chili Peppers except for Zach Romeo ready for Eagle work.

Paul F.- 1 merit badge before starting Eagle  (working with Mark Shaver)

Davis C.- 1 merit badge before starting Eagle.  Consider Global Garden at Clemmons Elementary?

Zach E.- no merit badges needed.  Turned in book, waiting for review.

Turner B.- no merit badges needed.  Waiting for approval for Eagle project.

Allen-   merit badges needed?  Considering work on playground at local Hispanic church.

·         Dru to touch base with Jim for rank advancement info.

·         2-3 Ravens ready for second class if they attend cold-weather camping weekend.

·         Next Scoutmaster Conference February 22

·         Next Board of Review February 26-28th at Barnhardt Center.

·         Remind younger Scouts that helping with Eagle projects is expected.  Encourage Scouts working on Eagle to engage younger Scouts in project.

·         All but 4 merit badges left form summer camp completed.

High Adventure

·         April 1 deadline for Philmont deposit.

·         St. Leo’s interested in partnering for travel arrangements through agency.  Skip to coordinate.

·         Brent to see about making Alex Hilleary’s movie presentation available on disk for Scouts.

Upcoming Meetings/Activities

·         Jan. 18  MLK Day- No Scouts

·         Jan. 25  We will have Scouts on the 25th.

·         Jan. 29-30  Winter Camping at Pickett Farm.  Have boys plan their weekend at farm.  Dutch oven, hiking, flag retirement.

·         Feb. 6/13 Scouting for Food - Feb 6 Scouts handing out bags.  Feb. 13 Cubs collecting bags. Margaret & Brian coordinating.

·         Feb. 7  Scout Sunday.  Have Scribe coordinate volunteers Feb.1.  Bulletins, Offering, Thank you.

·         Feb. 8  (7pm) Lenten Program Assembly

·         Feb. 8  (8pm) Ice Cream Social to Celebrate 100 years of Scouting with families. Margaret will invite Adam for ice cream.

·         Feb. 20  Pinewood Derby.  Call for volunteers.

·         Feb. 26-28  Youth Leadership Training at Raven Knob.  Call for Adult Volunteers.

·         Mar. 15  Webelos Bridging Ceremony.

·         Apr. 30 - May 2 Council’s Centennial Camping Event.

·         Jun. 26 - Jul. 3  Summer Camp at Raven Knob.

·         Friends of Scouting Presentation - need date.

·         Amy to investigate Merit Badge Rock Climbing opportunity in Boone for Spring.
